History & Background
Parc Borély was created in the 18th century by the Borély family, wealthy merchants from Marseille. The park was designed by the renowned landscape architect Jean-Charles Alphand, who also worked on the Bois de Boulogne in Paris. The Château Borély, built in 1767, was originally a private residence before being converted into a museum.
