History & Background
Cape Arid National Park was established in 1969 and covers over 280,000 hectares of coastal and inland ecosystems. The area has significant cultural importance to the local Indigenous people, the Ngadju and Mirning tribes, who have lived here for thousands of years. European explorers, including Matthew Flinders, visited the area in the early 19th century.
